These are newly built RRL-Grindrod locos (workshop in old ISCOR Pretoria), they are all EMD 645-E3B engined (3300 HP) locos but with differences. The frames are new fabrications and the RRL facility is impressive, most staff are ex Transnet and EMD-South Africa. The locos are basically EMD copies but RRL is not a licensee. CC1101-04 are for CFCO Congo, your photo shows two of these - they have light frames for an 18.5 ton axleload to meet CFCO requirements, they are RRL owned and leased to CFCO for 5-years initially. 1105 is the first of 20 locos, presumably 1105-24 (20-ton axleload) for lease to AML, Sierra Leone (the Marampa Mineral Railway which started with Garratts in the 30s), it does NOT follow on from CC1101-04. There are also plain 1101-04 which are EMD GT26 clones built by Gredelj in Croatia (same as the ones ordered by Riversdale Mining on the Moatize line in Mozambique), RRL ordered these for comparison, see photo of first one in Croatia, none reported yet in SA but look out for them (they may go straight to Sierra Leone however).
