Brand new to the Transnet Freight Rail fleet, 18-773 & 18-772 passing through Umlaas Road, as they leave KwaZulu Natal with one of the beautiful and prestigious Blue Train sets, bound for Johannesburg. The real time route camera can be seen mounted to the left of the Blue Train headboard, which provides passengers on board with video footage of the road ahead of the train (17th November 2013).

18-202 / 18-643 / 18-039 / 18-679 / 18-678 climb the hill out of Lions River towards Tweedie. They were working a "Python" (65 X CAR Wagons - Coal Load) to Cato Ridge. The timing of the crossing with the Johannesburg bound container train was a bit tight, or so we thought, but it worked out fine in the end (20th October 2013).

18-435 / 18-434 brought their own train (Shosholoza Meyl / Trans Natal) down to the yard this morning (12th October 2013). Usually the units cut off on the platform on arrival at Durban Station and a diesel loco goes down a little later and brings the train down to the yard.

Three newly refurbished RRL Grindrod Diesel Locomotives being readied for their journey to Ncala - Mozambique by sea. Ex Kiwi Rail DQ6347, now RRL 22-02 / Ex Kiwi Rail DQ6382, now RRL 22-01 / Ex SAR Class 35 (35-697), now RRL 35-07 being craned onto Transnet's Floating Crane "Indlovu Durban". The vessel collecting them for their journey to Mozambique is not equipped with a suitable crane for loading, hence the use of the floating crane. RRL Grindrod have completed the refurbishment of the two Kiwi Rail locos pretty quickly, as they only arrived in South Africa late July 2013 - Maydon Wharf (15th September 2013).
