Francois Koegelenberg very kindly supplied this super photo sequence of E1629 / E1659 exiting the Hex River Tunnel into Salbar Station with the Trans Karoo. The photos were taken while Francois was in the cab of 18-682 and had a load of Steel Coils behind him.

SAR Coach No. 2759 metal number. Coach 2759 was originally built in Pretoria in 1950 as a type GD-23-C Composite Guards Van. 2759 was scrapped / withdrawn from service in 1986 and used to form part of the Rovos Rail fleet. She is now in Kimberley and privately owned.

E8038 - Durban (23rd March 2013).

The line between Durban and Pietermaritzburg was completed in 1880. This is the actual original "Headboard" that ran on the "1980 Durban - Pietermaritzburg Centenary Special" - hauled by two GMAM Garratts, which took place on the 29th November 1980.
